One might find it a bit morbid, but I have a fascination for old graveyards. While visiting the island Vlieland, I came across this one. It has a nice mixture of very old grave and ones that are fairly recent.
When I talked to one of the locals, he told me that the cemetery is full at the moment. There’s hardly any room for new bodies. Even on a small island like Vlieland, with a population of about 1,100 people, that can be problematic.
When I was visiting Vlieland, I say this funny looking, cartoony witch on a window sill.
It might be a cartoon character of sorts, but I am not sure. Do you recognize her from something?
My girlfriend and I spent a couple of days on the wonderful island Vlieland. It’s one of the Wadden Islands. It’s rather small with a population of 1,100 people – tourists not included.
The island is lovely and has a great diversity when it comes to nature; you have the North Sea, beaches and dunes, and forests. And, it appeared to showcase a great diversity in mushrooms. It’s a great sign autumn has really arrived, which makes me a very happy camper.
